three wishes. that's all i ask.
so it was finally here. may fifteenth, two-thousand-four: the glen a. wilson prom came prancing before us.
so it's supposed to be the perfect day when i have no tired feelings.
but shucks, i reap my consequences of sleeping unearly. i was dead beat.
after two minutes of blinking away sleep, i get up to joshua d. echeverria calling at nine thirty-seven. seven minutes late. hah. (:
he was to swing by my reconstructing house to get a good look at my dress so he could go buy matching color shirt and tie. (yep, he's man enough to wear pink, blog)
yes, we're the masters of procrastination. or maybe it's just me. i bear the sadly name alone. -_-
i hope someone beats this so they'll suffer miserably from stress:
a) i got a dress five days before prom
b) prom bid wasn't purchased 'til two day before prom
c) i ordered a date two days before prom (thanks joshoe ^_^)
d) ordered corsage a day before prom
e) didn't start getting ready for prom until two hours before prom started
i need to learn my lessons. -_- *shriek*
a) procrastination is the root of all inquitiies.
b) getting to know people isn't hard.
c) indecisiveness is bad.
d) overloaded = stress
e) it's okay to concur
as my good chum, erike n. poomiwatracanont would say: don't bite off more than you could chew. yes; he could be wise--sometimes, that is.
so joshoe didn't come 'til thirty-two minutes later after he gave his word of being there "in five minutes." goodness, how he lags. heh just kidding. (:
he shows up with eugene at the door, who kept insisting that i met him before.
so we all talk because we like to talk. i haven't seen joshoe for almost eleven months--since his graduation. he's still pretty and has a nice giggle. (:
with a quick look, they leave to go on the shopping spree. and i was left with a million things to do because i like to exaggerate sometimes.
well at any rate, i craved swimming. i miss the water terribly but the clock only held
two hours and twenty-four minutes.
with precious minutes ticking away, i left to savons to purchase prom accessories because for girls, prom is very mah faan and accessories become necessities. -_-
coming home, i shower because i hate it so. (and when i was small, my mother and steph used to force me to shower.) and then i pack everything in my "going to grandma's" suitcase.
it was around lunch and my siblings got the urge to eat so i baked them lasagna and they ate happily.
then i darted to the piano to practice because you know, practice makes perfect.
piano and prom don't equal. but i had a piano recital at azusa pacific at one-fifteen pm. it was a bach festival. i made it to regionals and we were to compete again to go higher.
i was about to have a cow and my mother wouldn't let me drive to apu. so we ended up meeting at the chevron gas station with denny who graciously drove me to apu. asdfgh. my mother thinks i can't drive under stress. -_-
pressing for time we battle traffic and arrive there twelve minutes late. but i was toward the end so it was fine. except i got struck with stage fright and my fingers were numb when i performed.
and i don't think i played like bach did so i just gave my quick bow and smile and dashed off the stage. but denny was being the gentlemen and said i played "great." but he always might be lying.
after receiving my ribbon, i said farewell to apu, the school i could've been welcoming as my new home for the next four years but no, it's going to be my rival school the next four years. GO BIOLA! (with the short o sound, mind you)
i met up with my car at church, where there was a wedding going on. uncle yang jie was to be married.
it was the one where i got invited to--i got my own name in english and chinese on the pretty envelope addressed just to me! and not to pastor kwan and family. hah. it's high time i got my own wedding invitation. i shall treasure it for life. besides, it's green.
after taking a quick peek at the wedding, i sped to yvonne's house with jessicawa who came to watch me get ready because she's the dearest girl.
once we arrive, yvonne the hairdresser sets to work. sarai dropped by for eight minutes. jessicawa watched. and i stared at the wall.
i was supposed to meet up with the girls at lisa tanaka's house so they kept calling. but it was no use; it was way past four and i missed out on pictures. ._. i like pictures.
after my hair is done, chriseley drops by. and it's camera time. farewells to all three,
i hit the road to go home to find steph, stina and ange waiting, my prom assistances. (:
hair fix, make-up, nail polish, thanks to steph and company, i was finally set.
except i was running super late and my phone kept making sounds, people were waiting, prom was soon starting. the clock just didn't have enough minutes. -_-
while steph goes to pick up joshoe, off to jia jia's i go to pick up the last corsage/boutenniere that was there. "we all thought you forgot to pick it up," they tell me.
you don't understand, blog. i almost didn't want to go proming anymore. i was ready to flop down on the couch and read a book.
but it was still may fifteenth, prom was an hour away, and joshoe was at the door, looking his handsomest, in his pink shirt and stripped tie, waiting there with roses.
i was quite touched and the roses were pretty so steph took pictures of them.
both steph and joshoe didn't know how to pin the boutenneire on so my dear expert mother did.
as late as i was, we took plenty pictures inside and outside of the house with different kwans. but i was about to have a horse. then off me and joshoe go to school to take prom pictures. because you know, pictures = memories.
at school in the den, joshoe starts fretting about not knowing how to smile. @_@ but then we laughed while they took the first picture.
i was to carpool with edwin kim and steph yoko to biltmore hotel so they were waiting patiently the whole time. (sorry edwin and steph. thanks for waiting. *hug*)
me and steph yoko sat in the back so we conversed and i found out we are so like twins. (: edwin sped there so we got there on time.
enter the biltmore hotel. rich carpets, golden walls, marble floors, shiny chandeliers. it was too much finery; it dazzled me. @_@
there was a wedding/banquet going on simultaneously so we weren't the only ones who were having a special night.
long flowy gowns, eye-catching corsages, intricate hair styles, and tuxes, everyone was a prince or princess tonight.
we got the whole wing to ourselves. flashes went off everywhere. it was impossible to not find anyone to take pictures with. i finished one roll of film in ten minutes. -_- and my smile was stale by the time the roll was done.
somebody took my seat at the table so me and joshoe had to travel all the way across the room to sit with somebody else. (: but later boo/jessikao and pier came to sit with us too.
the centerpiece at our table was claimed. so i was a bit sad. but there was little arabian see through jars with corks on top.
with beads lying around, me and joshoe took three and made three wishes apiece and put them in the jar. (:
dinnertime and byron got extra hungry so he came to our table and ate chris chacon's steak and he looked so hungry so i donated him my steak and chicken.
all was well except he had a terrible stomache when everyone was dancing. but i prayed for him and he got better, or so he says.
group pictures was downstairs and we had to be patient and wait.
back to the very hot dance floor, where we stayed straight for almost three hours, joshoe started dripping sweat and i was drenched in sweat. but so was everyone else.
boo/jessikao said joshoe looked like he came from the ocean. and he did.
me and joshoe stole water from everyone around our table. i must admit i'm a waterholic. i took water from debbuah's table too. @_@
i had to dance barefoot because i was scared i was going to sprain my ankle/tendon again but a lot of people stepped on me and now my feet are probably going to be purple and black tomorrow. *sob*
.
well congrats to my dear juliet piang hwah kim and nickelas gonzales and errrwin espinelli for winning prom queen, prom king and prom prince respectively.
so we danced the night away and to our dismay, prom came to an end.
but i got to take home a centerpiece! i found it under a table. (: it's a big clear curvy glass arabian bottle with cork. and inside it's filled with sand and there's jewelry pieces glued on the front and there's a big purple that hangs.
i found another centerpiece so i was going to take home two but i gave it to carin because she didn't have one because giving is caring too.
i stole other arabian jars and peacock feathers! (: i felt so greedy when everyone looked at me with doughnut eyes because i was holding so much. and joshoe, being the perfect gentlemen, carried the centerpiece.
i'm so lame but i love artsy things. i might as well change from being a music performance major to a visual arts major.
or maybe i should just double-major those. but my mother said that would be a pain in the rear end if i do so since they're both art and art could never be perfected. -_-
well back to our comfortable land of hacienda heights we go and me and joshoe get dropped off at school in my parking space where my car was resting.
so i haven't seen joshoe for a while so we had catching up to do. then steph came with john or i should say chien lin and we took more pictures.
then me and joshoe went to go play at his park, which is about three blocks down from his house.
the slides were wet and so were the swings so we ran down the slides and joshoe walked backwards on a concrete ridge. and he sang ben harper and we danced under the stars. then we just played and talked because we talk a lot.
my daddy kept calling so i had to fly back home. and went home i did to find a tired steph.
there was a bake sale at church the next day so i stayed up to bake cookies because angela's cookies were half baked.
but i accidentally put in too much water so the dough was watery when it was in the oven so i added flour and mixed everything together. and the melted chocolate made everything brown so i ended up with ugly brown cookies. (that only happens when you're depleted.)
but yes. thanks jessicawa for coming to see me get preped up and chriseley and sarai for dropping by to visit. thank you yvonne for doing my hair for free because you're so good at it.
thank you, stina and ange, for being little prom assistants because i will be yours in a few years. and thank you steph for doing all the last minute errands and for being the good 'ol sis and making prom possible. i love you guys. (: you guys get to rock my toes. *hug*
and thanks to my chums who made it merriment. *huddle*
this is a night that i shall be telling about to my grandchildren. thank you, joshoe for being a super date and for putting up with the very intense stress (after all, calm is for wimps). prom was a blast. (: i shan't forget this day until i get alziemer's disease. you're paramount. *hug*
well blog, prom's forlornly over. but at least i could go flop on a couch and go read a book! *glee*
